Social Networking And Us

Chandan Sah shares his views on Social Networking

Hello Everyone,

My name is Chandan Sah and this post is about the Impact of Social Media on Youths and their family.

Social media is a term used to describe the interaction between groups or individuals in which they/we produce, share and sometimes exchange ideas over internet. The impact of social networks on people is significant. We are growing up surrounding by mobile devices and others media based devices which make it very easy for us to connect to internet and particularly social media. Facebook, twitter or WhatsApp is becoming a part of our daily lifestyle.

If we start digging deeply we may find ample benefits of social media but that cannot deny the facts that it does have some negative aspects. With social media we get connected to world, we can be updated about almost anything within a second. It’s helping lots of people to search jobs, share information among others. We even can make groups or pages of likeminded people and share similar content or information’s across the entire group at once.

Like positive points, social media has negative points too. Now a day’s youths are spending lots of their time on Facebook. By recent research it came to know that out of every 10 people 7 are addicted to at least one social website. Social media is such a vast store of information that at one point it may start messing with our thinking capacity, and sometime it gets very hard to judge the authenticity of information’s shared on such websites.  Take an example of ISIS which is using social media to reach innocent youth and trying different means to brainwash them.

So as discussed social media has both its advantages and disadvantages but it’s up to us to educate youth about it. Social networking is a connection that just can’t be broken. It tends to draw people away from the real world. Many people focus on social media to distract them from their real life problems. Doing so it has caused people to care less for personal relationships with their friends and family, it is an outlet for people to leave the real world.

The Effects of The Social Networking Sites On The New Generation

An article by Soubhik Nandy

Today’s World is a global village. Everyone is connected to one another by the internet. In the past, the communicating and sharing among people was restricted by distance. But now, that procedure is very fast. This is the period of social networking. There are many social networking sites. Such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and so on.

Social networking is a tool used by people all over the world to communicate and to share everything. However, this kind of technology is more harmful than good. Social networking affects our lives in many ways, including our communication, self-expression, loneliness & friendship.

A lot of students love to spend time with social networking sites. Because, social network provides them the freedom to do whatever they want. They can upload whatever they want. They can talk to any other persons. This is the why they can’t concentrate in their studies. Social networking sites are affecting the students largely.

The excessive use of these sites, is affecting their mental as well as physical health. Students don’t take their meals on time and don’t take proper rest. The parents should check their children when they use the internet for wasting their valuable time. They should be on guard about its usage. The thing to remember is that a student’s life is about studying, learning, and gaining variety of knowledge. They should be good person. But they are getting involved in social media.

One of the main problems arising out of social networking is identity crisis. The type of actions taken by the users and the kind of information they are adding to their profiles are forged and they tend to lose their own identity. Many cyber experts are worried about this identity problem. The lives of people, especially students is largely influenced. So we should eliminate its overuse.

Impact of Social network on new generations

An article by Ankita Bhattacharyya

Hello everyone! We’ve met earlier over my blog on Graphics and web designing. This time I want to share some of my experience and views on the subject of Social networking with you.

We all spend our times on social networking sites such as- Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many more. But have we ever really evaluated the worth of the time spent on these sites?

Even I have been using social media since 2011. Being a web student, I spend most of my time on the web or may I say with the web. But over the past few days I found myself estranged in a different world of networking and trust me, that’s weird.

Unnecessary posts & comments are becoming trendy these days. Don’t you think it should change? Don’t you feel lonely amidst all your virtual friends? Yes, it happens to me all the time. And No, I don’t think it’s normal. Is it normal to demolish our creativity for the sake of being social? Is it really ok to avoid spending quality times with our family and loved ones?

Just grow up everyone and think.. Let’s talk about this phenomenon.

Alternatively referred to as a virtual community or profile site, a social media is a website that brings people together to talk, share ideas and interests or make new friends all over the world. This type of sharing or collaboration is often named as social media or social network.

Now the question is that what is the utility of being popular in social media? I will get friendship, community, a sense of belonging or help with a problem or information on a condition I may have out of social networking? A place to share your photos, let people enjoy your shared videos or listen to your favourite music. What else do you need!

Each of us spends a little too long talking about ourselves on social networking sites. Which is perfectly all right. We must be sharing our ups and downs.

It is possible to have thousands of friends on social networking sites. They may not be friends you know on a personal level but they are friends nevertheless.

Now let’s come to the dark sides of being social. According to Cornell University’s Steven Strogatz, social media sites can make it more difficult for us to distinguish between the meaningful relationships we foster in the real world and the several casual relationships formed in the social media.

Secondly the cyber bullying is one of the major threats in this cases. Kids specially are vulnerable in the practice of cyber bullying. It has spread widely among youth with 42% reporting that they have been victims, according to 2010 CBS News report.

Social media plays a role in reducing productivity and privacy. Wired.com posted two studies which demonstrated damage to productivity caused by social networking: Nuclear Research reported that Facebook shaves 1.5% off office productivity while Morse claimed that British companies lost 2.2 billion a year to the social phenomenon. New technology products have become available that allows social networks to be blocked, but their effectiveness remains spotty.

The other issue about invasion of privacy due to more and more usage of social networking sites is becoming a serious issue nowadays. The social networking sites encourage people to be more public about their personal lives. Because intimate details of our lives can be posted so easily, users are prone to go through the filters they might normally employ when talking about their private lives.

At the end of the day we can say that all the applications in our life has its own dark and bright sides. It’s entirely our choice to choose the right bank of the river.

Why I Choose Graphics & Web Design & Development?

Chandan Sah explains why:

Image

Choosing a career has always been one of the hardest decision a student takes in his life, but that one decision crafts our future. As an Accounts Graduate it’s been even harder for me, because taking web as my profession means changing my entire career from Accounts to Web.

What I personally think about this course is, it’s one of the most interesting and flexible professions one can choose. But the negative point about this course is it’s not for everyone, if you want to succeed you need to have a keen interest in its subject matter. The web is a huge and complex network and you need to be updated every second if you want to succeed.

I have been using Computer and Internet since I was in class 8 and since then I have had an interest in how these things works and it led me into choosing this professional and hopefully I will achieve my ultimate dream of becoming a web developer.

I never had much interest in Graphics but I gradually started learning much more under the guidelines of Saptarshi Sir and I am still learning every day. Joining Arena Park Street has been my first step in achieving my dream, it’s a longer and harder than I expected, but to achieve something as large we have to pay a price.

I will conclude by quoting words of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam – “Never stop fighting until you arrive at your destined place – that is, the unique you. Have an aim in life, continuously acquire knowledge, work hard, and have perseverance to realize the great life.”

why I choose Graphics and Web Designing as a career

Samrat Ghosh explains:

WHY I CHOSE GRAPHICS & WEB DESIGN AS MY CAREER

I am a student of Graphics and Web Designing from Arena Animation, Park Street.

This is my first blog. The theme is why I choose Graphics and Web Designing as a career. Hmm! Being a creative person it was my dream to do something in creative field. It may be Freelance Painting, maybe it’s Animation or it may be Graphics. Before joining this course I studied B.Com (Honrs.) from Vidyasagar Evening College but somehow I thought that the stream is not for me. I was studying but not learning anything; going to College every day, solve the equation, match the Balance Sheet but there was something missing in my life and I recognized that my “Heart” was elsewhere.

My parents always say that whatever you do if you don’t do it from the heart it becomes useless. So, after completing my graduation I discussed & shared my views with my parents & teachers who are my guider, motivator, & friend and finally decided to join Arena Park Street.

But the question is why GWDD? Actually Painting is my passion & hobby from childhood & I tried to join Govt. Art College; gave an entrance exam but didn’t get a chance. Here was another option for me to join GWDD because when I was reading the courses overview, I seemed it would be perfect for me. I would try to complete my course very sincerely & can get a job in a short time period. I am still undergoing my course, Graphics part is almost over, now I step forward to Web World and I try to my level best.

Last of all, it is a great pleasure to talk something about my teachers. Saptarshi sir who is my Graphics teacher, providing excellent education quality to his students. He is very helpful & friendly. Now I join Somnath sir. He is a wonderful person; outside is very hard but deep inside it’s transparent. Thanks to him for inspiring me to write a blog.

WHY I CHOSE GRAPHIC DESIGNING

Oyindrilla Biswas shares her thoughts on the subject

My interest in Graphics kindled from where I was working earlier. Earlier I neither had any idea nor knowledge about Graphics Designing. After completing of my graduation I joined a private company as a junior accountant. The company was into print media. The whole day I used to see other employees busy playing with colours. Though I was a junior accountant over there, I used to get mesmerized and attracted towards those colour games. Ever since I have been eager to learn this game. However, no one helped me to learn the ropes.

Despite knowledge about the Industry I lagged behind and I kept following the senior graphics designer. After observing my passion and dedication towards graphics, one day my manager called me up and offered me to join as a junior graphics designer. Within a fraction of second I accepted the proposal and this was my beginning.

Then I got a project to do Mahabharata in the form of digital painting which has now been published in the form of a book. I worked very hard under the guidance and supervision of my senior. Till then I had very limited knowledge on graphics but I learned the tricks of the software through intense suffering, on my own.

But I wanted to gain more knowledge in Graphics. Then with due permission of my parents I joined Arena Animation Park Street. Many people suggested me to go to Arena Park Street as it provides best graphics course in Kolkata. Through this source I came to Arena Park Street and joined GWDD (Graphics, Web Design & Development). Though I am not a good artist and also I don’t have any drawing skills, but I loved to think about new designing. I used to research on the internet about the latest trends in graphics designing and their technologies. Today I love Graphics more than anything else. I enjoy playing with colours, I enjoy doing Graphics and now Graphics has become my Best Friend and a best part of my Life.
