“Ek Chhoti Seminar Ki Keemat, Tum Kya Jano ….”

Sumaiya Rahman, GWDD(2nd Sem), Arena Animation, Park Street.

I am back again with another exciting experience on a seminar I attended recently. Here, the question is what’s so special about this one?

Now, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear seminar? Are they boring? Or monotonous ? Or fun to attend? Have you attended one? Did you like listening to the lecture for long hours( approx 6 hrs.), sitting idle, and seldom noting down two or three lines when required? Or saw people around you yawning while 50% escaped after a break? Share your seminar experiences with us in the comment section below and stay tuned to know why this seminar was unusual.

On 28th April, 2018, I, Sumaiya Rahman, GWDD 2nd Sem, attended my second seminar based on “skill -development and career guidelines”, the seminar that broke the stereotypes, that was full of fun and enjoyment, yet rich with much needed facts which even Google would fail to provide. The man behind it was none other than, our very own, SINGHAM (our mentor, Somnath Chakraborty Sir).

How dare he break the so called seminar rules? (hey.. don’t curse me, just keep reading..) How dare he make studies entertaining? How dare he to go out of the way to make his students understand the otherwise boring lessons? ARE these questions relevant? Rather, it should be “How COULD he inspire us in such a manner and show us a way deviated from the rat race?”

I remember sitting right in front and still laughing like it was stand-up comedy. Apparently it seemed that, with sir doing mimicry and advertisement videos playing on the screen. You must be thinking “why advertisement videos for web students?” We had the same question until we understood the reason. What those videos portrayed in few minutes, books, software and tools, menu options couldn’t teach us in the past 11 months. The light ambience was working and we were intensely lost in the seminar.

The seminar was an entertaining break from our otherwise usual everyday classes, charging up once again for the upcoming month. We were given a break in the middle for refreshment and again we boarded the train and moved on.

If I start speaking about what I learned then probably this will never end. But I would say one thing, my visions are clearer than before and now I know which track to choose as my career. My technical skills are sharpened and the frog is finally outside the well, waiting on the edges to explore the world. But the good that this seminar has done to me mentally cannot be expressed in words. It showed me my place and the road that I still have to walk, it taught me that a different perspective to see things is not crazy but unique and productive, it told me that finding out a problem is common and every other common man does that, finding a solution to the problem and executing will make me different from the crowd.

And now I know that I have to K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Stupid) my life, my target and my works and entertain myself by my skill, knowledge, passion, dedication etc. That’s why I always follow the below line:

“If you’ve entertainment and enjoyment in your home or vicinity, you’ll never look outside to seek happiness.”                                     – Somnath Chakraborty Sir.

If you’ve made it till here then thanks a lot to stay with me till the end. We’ll meet again, next month with more exciting experiences and surprises.

Sumaiya Rahman, Gwdd, 1st Sem, the perfect comfort zone. How happy those days were, flying in the sky and taking things for granted like they were supposed to be like that! Who expected I would end up in a never ending hustle of GWDD, 2nd Sem? I started my journey three months ago, as a candidate of GWDD, 2nd Sem, apparently with the equipment I thought are sufficient. Eventually I realized those were nowhere close to what I need for accomplishment of my goal, my moto.

If you’re not equipped for your journey, probably you’ll return from the half way or get lost in the many hurdles which need equipment.

As the realization hit, changes flooded in. I started a search to upgrade  my equipment and get trained for the toughest part of the journey or the warfare. Change is the only constant in life and the true meaning of it is understood now.

The biggest of all can be the capability to be organized, whether that be the folder system on the desktop or personal life. A confused state of mind, trying to grab anything and everything on the way, filling the attic of brain with every knowledge possible and lots more literally degraded my performance and started spoiling my potential. A small habit of organizing the folder system clicked the right point  and tamed my thousands of thoughts wandering out of my control. Like knowledge, thinking can be good when it gives productive results. Unnecessary thinking or knowledge can astray the traveler from the destination. Though I am not yet a pro at it, but  beginning of such a habit is increasing my efficiency. And still the words ring in my ears,

“If you have PROPER planning, 90% of your work will be PERFECT”.

Somnath Sir.

Saying that, one more thing should be mentioned, i.e. a proper routine to organize our daily tasks. It is still fresh in my memory, how I used to wake up late in the morning and think for 5 minutes whether to leave my bed or to sleep longer. Using the phone at night was obvious and working was “mood dependent”. One afternoon and one line changed my sleeping habits and also the time of my work.

“Ebaba… Tumi phire chole jau. 9tai ghum theke uthle r web designer ba developer hote hobe na.”

Somnath Sir.

( English translation: If you have to wake up at 9 AM in the morning then you cannot be a web designer or developer. )

I still miss my bed more than anything else and now every morning I think, “When can I again sleep as I used to..”.

Often, more than 50% of our working time is not productive or we don’t manage to cover targeted areas. A proper routine distributes the time equally to all the small but important tasks and thus saving us from the obvious chaos. But the toughest part is to stick to the routine in thick and thins, which still seems difficult to me at times but trying is consistent, and the effects are visible. A routine can work as a catapult on your way, taking  you closer to your goal faster than you can think.

The Pinocchio Lab(our classroom), which became our second home in GWDD, 2nd Sem, undoubtedly incarnated few values in a very short period of time. It was here that I realized how important it is to spend quality time with family in spite of pascals of pressure on the shoulder and still carry a contagious smile, letting your loved ones know that you are doing good. I used to take my family’s love for granted and made usual mistakes which every youngster does, ignoring them for the sake of my virtual personal life. That made me understand that all they expect from us is our happiness and time, not the monetary things we possess or our so called attitude.

When talking about family it is mandatory to talk about the family not by blood but by relations and actions that this place has gifted me. “Me, my and myself” was the agenda before entering Pinocchio Lab. Well, it took some time but the magic finally happened. Individuals combined to become a team and move ahead together holding hands. Thus, “me” transformed to “we” making each one of us a leader in ourselves, installing the habit of dragging forward the members who are left behind.

All these happened in the right time and right place, when it should have happened. As said by our most beloved “Singham”,

Chatu Gorom Thakte Thakte Ruti Seke Nau”.

(“Tava garam rehte rehte hi roti seklo”.)

( English Translation: Bake the bread while the oven is still hot. )

Roti”  is still under process and the ingredients, flavors are still being added to it, making it better everyday.

WHY GWDD STUDENTS MUST KNOW ABOUT SEO, DIGITAL MARKETING AND GOOGLE ADWORDS?

Most of the newbie web designer or developer have a mindset that their work is finished once they complete the designing and coding of a website. But getting a website live on internet is just the first phase of online success. A website is of no use if it’s not getting enough targeted customer or if people do not know that such website even exists.

A web student should have at least a basic knowledge about SEO, Digital Marketing and Google AdWords. These are the tools which guarantees a website success. Learning these extra skills will not only help a GWDD student in getting better job but it will also help in better performance of the website in search engines where millions of websites are competing for exposure.

SEO stands for Search Engines Optimization. It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines. These are the results which a user gets when they search for information’s on search engines

Digital marketing is the term used for promotion of products or brands or website via one or more forms of electronic media  via the Internet, social media, mobile phones and electronic billboards, as well as via digital and television and radio channels.

Google AdWords is an advertising service by Google for business wanting to display their ads on Google and its advertising networks. The advertising network have to get their website approved using Google AdSense program before they are allowed to display ads on their website. Google AdWords is an ad program which is used by millions of business every year. The keyword, when searched for triggers your ad to be shown. You can easily find these ads if you do a simple search, they are found at top of the search results. Go on try to search for “web hosting” on google and see if you can find any ads.

Hence I would like to conclude by saying that although learning to code should be the major priority of GWDD students but learning some extra skills can be of great importance in your career. If you find this information useful comment below and don’t forget to share it with your friends.

“His ambition is to be the spider in the World Wide Web……”

John McCarthy

Hi there…..We met in my previous blogs before. Today I want to discuss my experience as a GWDD (Graphics, Web Design & Development) Student at Arena Animation Park Street. What I think about Web is…..It is the best thing that ever happened to me. When I got admitted in APS as a graphics and web student, I knew least about the vast world of Web. Gradually I got the unique taste of web and I really felt that nowadays we are all along dependent on it. We are living in the Web! Ok now let’s get deep and start with a simple poll. How many of your friends do you text daily? I know keeping that in mind is hard. Do you have more conversations through web than you do in person? It seems that more and more people are moving away from face-to-face interactions but instead moving towards a more web-driven way of life, myself included!

I got to know the basics of web like how to make a static webpage and turning it into dynamic website. It felt so wonderful knowing the facts behind the webpages we are going through every single day, hours, minutes…….. Trust me coding, developing sounds so heavy for the freshers like us but you can fell in love with it if you have a passion for web.

The GWDD course curriculum provides the best subjects and upto date study material that the students will be benefited in all the ways.

The GWDD course makes you upto the trend, updated and builds your skill in the World Wide Web. Beside the course we all were involved in extra-curricular activities like- Agomoni, Rakhi such events. “Only work and no play makes jack a dull boy” ……. never faced such situation!

At the end of the day  I would definitely like to say that GWDD is the best carrier option according to me because Web is now the real conqueror and to know web more you have to go for this course-The best curriculum till now.

SOCIAL NETWORK IMPACT ON YOUTH

An article by Samrat Ghosh

Actually it’s a bit difficult for me to tell something about the topic “SOCIAL NETWORK IMPACT ON YOUTH”.  Because I am a new generation guy & also very much addicted to social media. Nowadays online social media has gained huge worldwide growth and popularity. So we cannot really avoid this phenomenon.

Social networks offer the opportunity for people to re connect with their friends, family members, make new friends, share content & pictures and many other activities. It also has negative impacts. Actually all things have positive & negative influences on our life. So, social media is no different. But the actual problem of today’s youth is that they treat social media or network as real life & feel that life is nothing without social media, wall post and so on.

We cannot deny the impact of this. Nowadays parents also communicate with their children through Whatsapp, Messenger or Skype. Because all mothers are working women so, they are cannot care properly of their child, physically. But there is a problem, we think that people are becoming more sociable by using technology. But actually the opposite is happening. It’s become much easier for more people to maintain constant contact with their social networks online but for that face to face communication is fading day by day.

I talk with many friends on Facebook or Whatsapp for hours but I can’t see the other person’s emotions. So, when I meet them I cannot understand why they  act differently in person than while chatting online? What is their true personality?

Problem is not that you are spending time in social media but the problem is How much time do you spend in social media apps? So too much addiction of social networking is harmful like too much medicines is bad for our health. So connect with social media and also live life.

Social Networking And Us

Chandan Sah shares his views on Social Networking

Hello Everyone,

My name is Chandan Sah and this post is about the Impact of Social Media on Youths and their family.

Social media is a term used to describe the interaction between groups or individuals in which they/we produce, share and sometimes exchange ideas over internet. The impact of social networks on people is significant. We are growing up surrounding by mobile devices and others media based devices which make it very easy for us to connect to internet and particularly social media. Facebook, twitter or WhatsApp is becoming a part of our daily lifestyle.

If we start digging deeply we may find ample benefits of social media but that cannot deny the facts that it does have some negative aspects. With social media we get connected to world, we can be updated about almost anything within a second. It’s helping lots of people to search jobs, share information among others. We even can make groups or pages of likeminded people and share similar content or information’s across the entire group at once.

Like positive points, social media has negative points too. Now a day’s youths are spending lots of their time on Facebook. By recent research it came to know that out of every 10 people 7 are addicted to at least one social website. Social media is such a vast store of information that at one point it may start messing with our thinking capacity, and sometime it gets very hard to judge the authenticity of information’s shared on such websites.  Take an example of ISIS which is using social media to reach innocent youth and trying different means to brainwash them.

So as discussed social media has both its advantages and disadvantages but it’s up to us to educate youth about it. Social networking is a connection that just can’t be broken. It tends to draw people away from the real world. Many people focus on social media to distract them from their real life problems. Doing so it has caused people to care less for personal relationships with their friends and family, it is an outlet for people to leave the real world.
