WHY GWDD STUDENTS MUST KNOW ABOUT SEO, DIGITAL MARKETING AND GOOGLE ADWORDS?

Most of the newbie web designer or developer have a mindset that their work is finished once they complete the designing and coding of a website. But getting a website live on internet is just the first phase of online success. A website is of no use if it’s not getting enough targeted customer or if people do not know that such website even exists.

A web student should have at least a basic knowledge about SEO, Digital Marketing and Google AdWords. These are the tools which guarantees a website success. Learning these extra skills will not only help a GWDD student in getting better job but it will also help in better performance of the website in search engines where millions of websites are competing for exposure.

SEO stands for Search Engines Optimization. It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines. These are the results which a user gets when they search for information’s on search engines

Digital marketing is the term used for promotion of products or brands or website via one or more forms of electronic media  via the Internet, social media, mobile phones and electronic billboards, as well as via digital and television and radio channels.

Google AdWords is an advertising service by Google for business wanting to display their ads on Google and its advertising networks. The advertising network have to get their website approved using Google AdSense program before they are allowed to display ads on their website. You can easily find these ads if you do a simple search, they are found at top of the search results. Go on try to search for “web hosting” on google and see if you can find any ads.

IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA

An article by Vinay Jason Haridas

Social media describes the interaction between groups or individuals in which they produce, share, and sometimes exchange ideas over the internet or virtual communities. It has become an unquestionable part of our everyday lives.

The impact of social networks on today’s youth is significant. Children are growing up surrounded by mobile devices and interactive social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, which has made the social media a vital aspect of our life. Social networks are transforming the manner in which young people interact with their parents, peers, as well as how they make use of technology.

Its sites allow people to communicate and remain in contact with friends as well as meet new people.

The effects of social media are twofold. On the positive side, social networks can act as invaluable tools for professionals, by assisting young professionals to market their skills, seek business opportunities and share their ideas; they allow people to communicate with peers, relatives, friends, living in different cities and countries. On the negative side, the internet is laden with a number of risks associated with online communities. Cyber bullying, which refers to a type of bullying that is perpetrated using electronic technology, is one of the risks.

To sum up, social media takes a big part of our free time. Having forced the ways of communication out, they replaced hobbies and verbal communications. Despite all positive moments of social media, such as free means of communication, availability of audio and video material, speed of search and exchange of information, their influence on the consciousness and communicative skills of the youth has it’s negatives and positives.

SOCIAL NETWORK IMPACT ON YOUTH

An article by Samrat Ghosh

Actually it’s a bit difficult for me to tell something about the topic “SOCIAL NETWORK IMPACT ON YOUTH”.  Because I am a new generation guy & also very much addicted to social media. Nowadays online social media has gained huge worldwide growth and popularity. So we cannot really avoid this phenomenon.

Social networks offer the opportunity for people to re connect with their friends, family members, make new friends, share content & pictures and many other activities. It also has negative impacts. Actually all things have positive & negative influences on our life. So, social media is no different. But the actual problem of today’s youth is that they treat social media or network as real life & feel that life is nothing without social media, wall post and so on.

We cannot deny the impact of this. Nowadays parents also communicate with their children through Whatsapp, Messenger or Skype. Because all mothers are working women so, they are cannot care properly of their child, physically. But there is a problem, we think that people are becoming more sociable by using technology. But actually the opposite is happening. It’s become much easier for more people to maintain constant contact with their social networks online but for that face to face communication is fading day by day.

I talk with many friends on Facebook or Whatsapp for hours but I can’t see the other person’s emotions. So, when I meet them I cannot understand why they  act differently in person than while chatting online? What is their true personality?

Problem is not that you are spending time in social media but the problem is How much time do you spend in social media apps? So too much addiction of social networking is harmful like too much medicines is bad for our health. So connect with social media and also live life.

Social Networking And Us

Chandan Sah shares his views on Social Networking

Hello Everyone,

My name is Chandan Sah and this post is about the Impact of Social Media on Youths and their family.

Social media is a term used to describe the interaction between groups or individuals in which they/we produce, share and sometimes exchange ideas over internet. The impact of social networks on people is significant. We are growing up surrounding by mobile devices and others media based devices which make it very easy for us to connect to internet and particularly social media. Facebook, twitter or WhatsApp is becoming a part of our daily lifestyle.

If we start digging deeply we may find ample benefits of social media but that cannot deny the facts that it does have some negative aspects. With social media we get connected to world, we can be updated about almost anything within a second. It’s helping lots of people to search jobs, share information among others. We even can make groups or pages of likeminded people and share similar content or information’s across the entire group at once.

Like positive points, social media has negative points too. Now a day’s youths are spending lots of their time on Facebook. By recent research it came to know that out of every 10 people 7 are addicted to at least one social website. Social media is such a vast store of information that at one point it may start messing with our thinking capacity, and sometime it gets very hard to judge the authenticity of information’s shared on such websites.  Take an example of ISIS which is using social media to reach innocent youth and trying different means to brainwash them.

So as discussed social media has both its advantages and disadvantages but it’s up to us to educate youth about it. Social networking is a connection that just can’t be broken. It tends to draw people away from the real world. Many people focus on social media to distract them from their real life problems. Doing so it has caused people to care less for personal relationships with their friends and family, it is an outlet for people to leave the real world.

The Effects of The Social Networking Sites On The New Generation

An article by Soubhik Nandy

Today’s World is a global village. Everyone is connected to one another by the internet. In the past, the communicating and sharing among people was restricted by distance. But now, that procedure is very fast. This is the period of social networking. There are many social networking sites. Such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and so on.

Social networking is a tool used by people all over the world to communicate and to share everything. However, this kind of technology is more harmful than good. Social networking affects our lives in many ways, including our communication, self-expression, loneliness & friendship.

A lot of students love to spend time with social networking sites. Because, social network provides them the freedom to do whatever they want. They can upload whatever they want. They can talk to any other persons. This is the why they can’t concentrate in their studies. Social networking sites are affecting the students largely.

The excessive use of these sites, is affecting their mental as well as physical health. Students don’t take their meals on time and don’t take proper rest. The parents should check their children when they use the internet for wasting their valuable time. They should be on guard about its usage. The thing to remember is that a student’s life is about studying, learning, and gaining variety of knowledge. They should be good person. But they are getting involved in social media.

One of the main problems arising out of social networking is identity crisis. The type of actions taken by the users and the kind of information they are adding to their profiles are forged and they tend to lose their own identity. Many cyber experts are worried about this identity problem. The lives of people, especially students is largely influenced. So we should eliminate its overuse.

Impact of Social network on new generations

An article by Ankita Bhattacharyya

Hello everyone! We’ve met earlier over my blog on Graphics and web designing. This time I want to share some of my experience and views on the subject of Social networking with you.

We all spend our times on social networking sites such as- Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many more. But have we ever really evaluated the worth of the time spent on these sites?

Even I have been using social media since 2011. Being a web student, I spend most of my time on the web or may I say with the web. But over the past few days I found myself estranged in a different world of networking and trust me, that’s weird.

Unnecessary posts & comments are becoming trendy these days. Don’t you think it should change? Don’t you feel lonely amidst all your virtual friends? Yes, it happens to me all the time. And No, I don’t think it’s normal. Is it normal to demolish our creativity for the sake of being social? Is it really ok to avoid spending quality times with our family and loved ones?

Just grow up everyone and think.. Let’s talk about this phenomenon.

Alternatively referred to as a virtual community or profile site, a social media is a website that brings people together to talk, share ideas and interests or make new friends all over the world. This type of sharing or collaboration is often named as social media or social network.

Now the question is that what is the utility of being popular in social media? I will get friendship, community, a sense of belonging or help with a problem or information on a condition I may have out of social networking? A place to share your photos, let people enjoy your shared videos or listen to your favourite music. What else do you need!

Each of us spends a little too long talking about ourselves on social networking sites. Which is perfectly all right. We must be sharing our ups and downs.

It is possible to have thousands of friends on social networking sites. They may not be friends you know on a personal level but they are friends nevertheless.

Now let’s come to the dark sides of being social. According to Cornell University’s Steven Strogatz, social media sites can make it more difficult for us to distinguish between the meaningful relationships we foster in the real world and the several casual relationships formed in the social media.

Secondly the cyber bullying is one of the major threats in this cases. Kids specially are vulnerable in the practice of cyber bullying. It has spread widely among youth with 42% reporting that they have been victims, according to 2010 CBS News report.

Social media plays a role in reducing productivity and privacy. Wired.com posted two studies which demonstrated damage to productivity caused by social networking: Nuclear Research reported that Facebook shaves 1.5% off office productivity while Morse claimed that British companies lost 2.2 billion a year to the social phenomenon. New technology products have become available that allows social networks to be blocked, but their effectiveness remains spotty.

The other issue about invasion of privacy due to more and more usage of social networking sites is becoming a serious issue nowadays. The social networking sites encourage people to be more public about their personal lives. Because intimate details of our lives can be posted so easily, users are prone to go through the filters they might normally employ when talking about their private lives.

At the end of the day we can say that all the applications in our life has its own dark and bright sides. It’s entirely our choice to choose the right bank of the river.

Digital Life

Shrabati Paul, a student of Arena Multimedia Park Street shares her thoughts on the subject.

In the earlier days it was very difficult to find and connect with people. Writing a letter was one of the most effective forms of communication be it personal or official/professional. But it took a lot of time.

But nowadays we all interact with each other in a different way. Everything is digital. Marketing, Selling, Communication everything is happening digitally. The social media sites are making it much easier for people to find one another and reconnect.

These social media sites have changed the way we interact with each other. Sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Vine and more make it simple to stay connected. Millions of users are connected through the social media. It is a platform through which we express ourselves. It is a part of our daily life. Not only personal, but it is also a great tool for business.

I remember that day when I was first introduced to the social media. Its features & concept were new to me. But now it has become a habit, taking a selfie and posting it on social media is common for me now. J

we can share news about your feeling, experience etc. through statuses, pictures and videos. Or we can share what we have done through the day. It’s seems like a dream everything is in your hand everything is possible.

Not only personal sharing if you are searching for a job the social media plays a great role. You can find a job as per your requirement. The hiring managers can find a candidate online.

Want to sell products? Post an advertisement online to find different kinds of customer through media. LinkedIn is a best networking site to communicate in the professional field.

Money payment, online booking, product selling, interact, communication, all of these can be done on the digital media. It’s a full of package. This makes our life easier.
