Perks of being a APS DADM Student

blog image

Hey everyone! I am Meghna Gupta2nd sem student pursuing DADM (Digital Advertising Design & Marketing) course from Arena Animation, Park Street. Along with this I am doing my B.COM  (bachelors of commerce ) from J.D Birla Institute.

I’m very excited to write this blog as it is the first time ever I’m ever writing a blog. My journey in APS has been beautiful and life-changing. Every day I learn something new and interesting. In this blog I will share my experience about the recent seminar I attended in APS on the topic ‘Digital Marketing benefits in GWDD (Graphic, Web Design and Development).

As interesting as the topic, the seminar was also exhilarating. The seminar was held on 21st June 2019, and was conducted at the ‘Thor Lab’. We all know how marketing has evolved globally by going digital and it has become an important part of every organisation. With India going digital more the concept of digital marketing has come into the picture. The seminar was conducted by my mentor, Somnath Chakraborty Sir. He has a different approach and doesn’t believe in teaching theoretically. He makes us understand everything practically and has always been preparing us for the industry. He explained exactly what is digital marketing and what are the different aspects connected to it and how it is useful in every career and why every firm today needs a digital marketer. He often says, “digital marketing is an ocean”, an ocean of techniques.

A firm requires a digital marketer for it’s promotion, brand building and buying and selling of goods efficiently and many other activities. He made us acquainted with the term “SEM” (Search Engine Marketing) and “SEO” (Search Engine Optimisation) which are major parts of digital marketing.

He further explained the various ways to optimise a website and the factors such as text, content, images, videos and inbound and outbound links affecting the rank of website in a SERP (Search Engine Result Page). We also had the honour of having our centre head, Ramesh Ruia Sir to share his knowledge with us, which was extremely useful. He told us how the population is distributed among X,Y & Z generation and how to hit the right target audience using a right digital platform.

He unfolded the importance of ‘content’ in a digital platform. He said, “At the end everything comes back to the content.” He also gave examples from his own life and what role did digital marketing play and also explained the concept of Google Analytics. Both of their discourse on the topic was very engrossing and enlightening.

Between the seminar, we got a break in which we all classmates seniors and juniors really bonded with each other and had a nice time. The day ended with a relaxing chai and samosa session with my seniors and Somnath Chakraborty Sir.

Thank you APS for arranging this captivating seminar. It made feel that I chose a right career for myself by choosing DADM as my course and made me realise the need for a  digital marketer in the society.

Burhan Mullamithawala , GWDD, 2nd sem,Arena Animation  Park Street

Hey guys! My name is Burhan Mullamithawala and I am a 2nd semester student in GWDD. I know it’s going to be tongue twister for everyone to pronounce my surname but you will soon get a knack of pronouncing it properly.

This is my very first blog which I have written in my life. I would like to give you a sneak peek into these past 8 months in Arena Animation, Park Street.

Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.” – A quote which has changed me for the better in these past months.

I am a B.Tech graduate from Netaji Subhash Engineering College, Kolkata.  Then my mother came to me with this idea about website designing as I had earlier shown interest in my school days. I read through a lot of other job prospects and I found GWDD to be most prospecting, so I joined Arena Animation after careful consideration. After joining Arena Animation, Park Street I saw what I was missing out on after my school days.

During my 1st semester my faculty were Deepak Sir and Sayani Ma’am. They taught me Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Coreldraw very efficiently .They are one of the coolest most supportive teachers I ever got. They helped me in every step of the way. But I didn’t know whom I was going to come across next.

My teachers did say that my 2nd semester is not going to be a walk in the garden as the course was going to get tougher and more over the teacher helming it is someone I have not met in my life before. I hoped for the better and it’s been one month now in my 2nd semester of web designing and I can easily say that I have found a great teacher in Sir Somnath Chakraborty. He is very diligent towards his work and more than that he truly cares for the future of his students. He’s strict when it comes to completing our work but that is only because he wants us to push our boundaries and expand. He has an unconventional way teaching. Something I have seen very rarely in my life. He scolds us with his bizarre eye and hand gestures when we are not concentrating on the things assigned to us by him but he pampers us too with all his love. I have already started making brands for my portfolio and I believe I’ve become more hardworking under his guidance.

I have also attended two seminars till now under Somnath Sir, and they have been very productive for me. He makes sure that each student gets the most out of it and challenges us to ask more questions.

He also tells to us to connect with our seniors for our work issues or any matter that’s riddling us. My seniors Kaushik Dalui and Salina Marandi have guided me in my problems related to my brand and portfolio designing. Mariyam and Annapurna are my classmates and they’ve been very helpful too when I had problems in Adobe Flash. We have become a good team in this past one month. We joke around too which eases mollifies the stress as our Somnath Sir says that bookish, robotic life will not help us in life and we should live a little outside our academic life.

I can easily say that I’m very happy to have joined Arena Animation, Park Street and more so I’m very fortunate to have got such supportive mentors and classmates who are always there to help. I have become more open about my problems and I do not have to look far for their solution anymore.

Thank you for taking the time to read my first blog. I hope to write more in the coming months. Stay tuned!

Impossible means I AM POSSIBLE

nancy

Nancy Agarwal, GWDD, 2nd Semester, Arena Animation, Park Street

So,here I am Miss Nancy Agarwal to put down my thoughts and feels about my journey to GWDD till date- in my first blog. Before moving ahead I would hold gratitude for each and every person individually who is taking the initiative to read my blog. Well, it has been eleven months, since I got enrolled in this course, where the first eight months I was indulged in graphic designing (1st semester), came across various software like Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDraw. And then I became a member of the 2nd semester which involved the most crucial rather significant subject that was the web designing.

The first eight months went off very smoothly as it was all about learning tools and menus and off course held a little essence of creativity in it, but it was all the same like learning and retaining and nothing diverse as such, for which I would like to thank the faculty members Deepak sir and Sayani ma’am who really assisted me in learning these variety of software. Precisely, I learned certain things but did not enjoy those eight months, and also “as a person I remained the same”.

Now let me impart you guys one thing about myself that I am , rather I was a very fearful, impatient and sentimental kind of a human being- hanging on with all sorts of negativity in my mind and an introvert kind of a human.

Frankly speaking 2nd semester transformed me( in and out)-it aroused my interest towards my subject, my humanity ,and most importantly I could visualize myself somewhere in my works. Starting from my orientation till today everyday-there is a new gesture that Nancy gets too embraced each day. Though this is a very slow process but an effective one.

“Slow and steady wins the race”

It enriched me with more and more of patience, erasing off my negativity and fear that I had in my subconscious mind (24 X 7) , making me a better human being. And all of this would not have been possible if SIR- Mr. Somnath Chakraborty, my mentor and teacher would not have been there. He is one of the best teachers I have met till date. He is very devoted and passionate towards his students and works. It is his shout and anger that has transformed me to a creative person rather just being a book worm. It is his words that fill me with zest to work passionately and eagerly. I am able to put on my efforts sincerely towards my work just because of his motivational and inspirational speeches that he gives in his every class which helps me to deal with my subjects in a serious manner. Still there are lots to learn and lots to retain. I will try my level best to act patiently and respond fearlessly to this tough but not the impossible journey of GWDD.

So, with this I would like to take a leave before we meet again (very soon) in my next blog—until then thank you guys, take care, stay happy, stay positive and most importantly listen to yourself before listening to others.

Thank you!

Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna..

Sumaiya Rahman, GWDD-Plus, 2nd Semester, Arena Animation, Park Street

After a long time, typing to share own experiences is a different feeling altogether. This is not the last blog I am going to write, but definitely one of the most important and longest one till date.

No one can take what Arena Animation ,Park Street has given me. I am not that proud of my college life or never built any special moment there to cherish later. After third year I gave up on the thought of making good, fun memories in educational life or even later. Somehow, I was struggling to build my career and the rest seemed secondary. If I say that my first semester was boring I would be wrong. I did make many new friends and participated in events. But that became common when I came to 2nd Semester of my course. It took me time to adjust to the new ambiance, discipline, routine and lots more. Slowly and gradually I got used to it. And now, at present, thinking of leaving everything I am living here is a nightmare.

The first and foremost thing that Pinocchio lab (classroom of 2nd Sem) has given me is a family of six, not by blood but by relation. And I hope to carry forward that as long as possible. I agree that we fight, we get mad at each other, we stop talking, show our craziness, and sometimes unintentionally hurt. But we stick together and make it till the end.

e

Family By Relation, Not By Blood (Scroll Down To Know About Sixth Member)

Here, let me talk about one of the most interesting character of the family. He is renowned as Singham (Sir Somnath Chakraborty) and for a reason. He is that alchemist who brewed the elixir out of us. For me he is that “Silent Guardian” who protected us and made us who we are.

Yes, he gave us home tasks which took us sleepless nights to finish, assignments for which we had to work continuously for 5 to 6 hours without a break. That gave me an opportunity to start with a job in a company as Web Designer after I got selected in the machine test and personal Interview round. But it is here, in the same lab that we learned to upgrade ourselves everyday to become better than yesterday. And so, I upgraded to Digital Marketing to become a complete package before stepping out.

So now I know I am standing where I should be.

This reminds me of my first day in APS. I was sent to Rhythm Lab (our first classroom) and I noticed a wall painting, big enough to be looked at by all the people present in the room. It had a saying, “I may not have landed up where I wanted to be… but I have landed up where I needed to be”. First few days I took time to understand what it really meant. Being from Math background somewhere I still found ways to go back there. But today, while typing these lines I know and can say it proudly that I have landed up where I needed to be.

In my previous blogs I have already spoke about the monthly seminars and activities that we conduct, the lessons they taught, and benefits I received. Co-ordinating the activities and seminars not only taught me to organize the team but also myself which had an impact on my personal life too. In the movie “Spiderman” I still remember a dialogue,

“With great power comes great responsibilities..”

But in my case, my responsibilities helped me to discover the inner power I never realized I had.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Whenever the albums of those events got posted and the alumni commented, I could never understand what they missed when looking at those pictures. But today, when it is time for me to pass on the activity box to the next generation of Pinocchio Lab, hand over the “Satta” I can feel how painful and nostalgic it must be for them. And now it is like I want to collect as many sea-shells of memories as possible before leaving the lab forever.

Four walls make a classroom. The bonding between the students and the teachers of that class make it lively and a second home for each one.

After I leave, everything will be the same, the chairs, the monitors, the CPU’s, the floor, the walls. New people will take over my responsibilities, curriculum will proceed as they should. A new chapter will begin with new stories. And just like me, the lab will again start making new fighters. But my life will change for good, and with everything I got from here I’ll set out for another journey to another destination.

Life moves on, time goes by. After all, no one in this world is indispensable.

Sumaiya Rahman, GWDD 2nd Sem, Arena Animation, Park Street.

Greetings to every eye on the screen! I, Sumaiya Rahman, GWDD (2nd Sem) student have been sharing my experiences through blogs for a long time now. Whether it be a seminar or journey so far, whether it be an event or self-improvement, I have been sharing every ounce of it in these blank spaces of the screen (I would have said blank pages if it was not digital).

(Click Here For My Last Blog)

This time I behold an experience like no-other, gems more valuable than Kohinoor, ethics and morals which make us fit for industry (Get a glimpse here). Pinocchio Lab (our classroom) has a unique way to transfer these into us. And that unique way is called “Seminar & Workshop” (Click here to experience another such a seminar). Why am I calling it a unique way? You’ll soon find out if you stick with me till the end.

Saturdays are always special with some event going on. Similarly, last Saturday (relative to the time when I am typing this) i.e. 14th July, 2018 I witnessed a seminar and workshop most “hatke” (different) from others. The day started with photo shoot and I discovered my hidden talent and hidden affection for camera. When the clock struck 11AM, we all settled down in respective places and waited for Singham (Somnath Sir) to start with the presentation. Before starting anything he gave us a small hint of what is lying ahead along with keeping a bundle of suspense wrapped in white papers on the table, clearly visible to all. What a man!!!! Were we supposed to concentrate on his speech? Or the bundle ? But I tell you, as the seminar proceeded and he started speaking, every word seemed to be a capsule, a remedy for what lacks in us.

The first half went smoothly when we were on the comfortable seat and sir stood there, speaking endlessly. And then after a short time, suddenly the chairs turned to a hot seat and the ambience became heavier than ever.

In the trial interview that occurred we all realized how much more effort we still need to put. Some questions we could answer and some we couldn’t. But most importantly we understood the mental state we have to go through before an interview. Each minute passed by like an hour when we were waiting for our turn. Even though the interview was over, tension stayed back, probably waiting for the results. It was like a mock test in which we scored 40% but got to learn 200%.

The air became lighter when MAHAGURU ( Mr.Ramesh Ruia Sir ) entered and took a session. Suddenly the room was filled with positive vibes and a smile spread on each of our faces. He shared his experiences as an interview candidate and then as a recruiter as well, which gave us a broader idea of the whole system. Well, that didn’t last long. It was then time for unfolding the bundle of suspense kept on the table. When curiosity was at it’s peak we finally opened the papers and found team names with members and tasks written on it. We all sighed and went back to machines to execute the work. Suddenly, the known computers were strangers to us and we felt like we are sitting in another place we’ve never visited before. (Enjoy The Video Here)

The whole day took us one step closer to the job I believe. It was a part of our preparations and I’ll say the most important one, without which we would never be “Job Ready”. One by one, all the sessions left a long lasting impact on our minds. It taught us to be prepared for the unexpected, to handle the pulse when everything around you is going wrong. Technically we can still reach the benchmark. But it’ll be of no use if we cannot execute on the final day, i.e. the interview day. And thus, to prepare your mind not to get knock out under such tension is a big thing that we still need to learn. As said by our dear sir, now we know,

“Hope for the best. But, be prepared for the worst”.

” Confidence comes from discipline and training. “

Hello readers! I am back again with another experience of seminar & workshop based on job placement & interview I recently attended on 14th July 2018, Saturday. Speaking of seminar, you might be thinking I had gone through lots of lectures. Well only one way to find out. So, let’s get started !

If you haven’t checked my last blog click in the following link:

I was very much excited about this seminar & workshop to happen while it started with a bang by our mentor SINGHAM  (Sir Somnath Chakraborty ) kept a bundle of suspense in some pieces of folded paper including an interview trial. We weren’t that much scared nor excited. We all were secretly whispering to figure out what’s going to happen.

The first half of seminar started with the importance of interview and what we should follow to get placed. There were many important things like behavior and mind set I have to set if I want a job. There were many common things we really don’t follow in order to lead a comfortable life. But what is it? That’s like cutting out my own branch I am sitting on it. I really like learning something with fun and interactively. Guess what, this was the perfect seminar for me.

” It’s not just about ideas, it’s about making ideas happen. Do it!!! “

The second half of the seminar was interview session. We were called and gave trial of an actual interview that we will face in the job interview. By this session we really felt we are still not enough whether it’s small or big mistakes we can’t answer. Answering questions wasn’t the real motive of acting in the interview it also includes our body language and our voice tones. Interview is not a piece of a cake whether you are confident in your theory or practical. It includes your 360-degree performance judged by interviewer that you are fit for the job or not.

” My attitude, not my aptitude determines my altitude.

In between the seminar we got a surprise visit of our MAHAGURU (Sir Ramesh Ruia). He started with his advisory session with great suggestions and importance on job interview. It was very informative how he really explained the process he has gone through and some of his experiences. He really made some of the things very clear to us which gave an extra advantage to this seminar.

Check our moments in this seminar in the link below: –

At last but not the least bundle suspense exposed without guessing about it we were divided into 5 teams to give machine test. We were being assigned tasks along with respective team members. We were given a limited time to finish tasks. We were nervous but we worked together as different teams to execute the tasks. This Machine Test was an important lesson for me to check technical skills that includes the work pressure, planning and the deadline of the product.

   ” Imagine – Invent – Inspire “

Check out the video of our workshop in the link below: –

This was a memorable seminar for me and also a desirable experience working together with classmates. After this seminar and workshop, I am transforming myself from the one I was before.

” Whatever the mind can conceive & believe it can achieve. “

Digital Marketing:”Swagat Nahi Karoge Aap Humara..?”

Sumaiya Rahman, 2nd Sem, GWDD, Arena Animation, Park Street

Hi friends! Sumaiya Rahman, GWDD(2nd Sem) is back with a hot topic this time. By my last blog (check out my last blog here:

https://arenaps.wordpress.com/2018/05/07/ek-chhoti-seminar-ki-keemat-tum-kya-jano/   ) you all know that we often attend “Zara  Se Hatke” seminars. Last month all  2nd  semester GWDD students were fortunate enough to attend such a seminar conducted by Ramesh Ruia Sir, our Center Head

( To know more: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=182674505888384&set=oa.1568974669892728&type=3&theater&ifg=1  ). But this seminar had an impact so strong that I changed my mind. Oh yes! You read it right, I changed my mind and updated from GWDD to GWDD PLUS. The most surprising thing is other candidates in our batch did the same. Why do you think one seminar can make us change our course ? Every other student was in the same suspense when we all took the stand together to update our course from GWDD to GWDD PLUS. Questions were asked and we were told to think twice before taking the drastic step, consult with our guardians and inform some other time.

Well, the seminar opened a new dimension for us, a hidden world we didn’t know existed. So now we have enrolled for “GWDD PLUS”. Let me first speak about the latest features of this. It includes everything from GWDD along with other new hot topics. But the main topic which acted as a black hole for us is “Digital Marketing”.

GWDD already gave us the scope to work in different fields as Web developer, Web Designer, Graphics Designer and lot others but Digital Marketing enlarged that field beyond our imagination. Now we can be SEO Consultant, SEO Specialist, Digital Marketeer, Content Management System Specialist etc. The terms are new for us, had to go through a bit of difficulty to understand the meaning but never the less that made it even more exciting.

Previously, having no idea what it is or how beneficial it can be for my near future I never paid much heed to it in the past. My planning was all set. After the end of July (when my course finishes) I would prepare myself for interviews and would try my luck. After that, a peaceful job life… No more assignments, no more home tasks. But as we know, “Man poses God disposes”. Seems like I will have to spend more time  in Arena Animation, Park Street, 3rd floor, Pinocchio lab .

After knowing what digital Marketing is, I won’t mind staying longer. Rather, I would love to. Marketing is the most important part of any business, whether small or big doesn’t matter. Any new invention and only proper marketing can make that invention famous or useful for general citizens, any new product launch needs marketing, and I can keep giving such examples where we need marketing. In the recent days things are turning digital, whether it is Aadhar Card, Ration Card, college application forms or bank works. Internet has given us a comfort zone and decreased our efforts more than 50%. I won’t be wrong if I say that more than 70% of people around the world are dependent on internet. And thus, there came a turning point in the methodology of marketing. That is turning digital too. It gives better scope to the business to interact with the right audience in the right time and location making the whole system more efficient.

I remember after the seminar when all of us exclaimed that the session was really interesting and helped us learn a lot , Ramesh Ruia Sir said, “This was nothing, this was just the tip of the iceberg”. It hit my mind hard and forced me to think “Then how will it feel like to actually explore the iceberg?” And I made up my mind to go for it and give it a try. Yes problems came up. But I knew that if I invest now I will get the return for the rest of my life. Good things aren’t easy to achieve, thus giving me the motivation to stick to my decision and get past those hindrance on my way.

Though the classes haven’t started yet, the fact that soon we will be landing on the iceberg is enough to bring a smile of excitement.

Well.. Digital Marketing is the new hot gossip or point of discussion or point of attraction, whatever you want to call it. I have tightened the seat belt and prepared myself for the ride.. Because my friend…

The Show is about to begin…
