Hello readers! I am Shebi Maurya from GWDD, 2nd sem of Arena Animation, Park Street, writing my second blog to share my exciting experience with you all on GWDD July month activity. So far we have done a lot of activities, but this month’s was very special to us.
Every month I wait for our monthly activity. This is not just an activity; this is a kind of refreshment which is needed after a full month of hectic schedule and work pressure. We start planning our activity a week before the activity date. All these monthly activities stand more special to me since it gives me an opportunity to show my love and passion for painting.
All these monthly activities are theme-based; we decide a theme and plan our activity accordingly. Our July month theme was on “Kargil Vijay Diwas”. A small effort to give homage to the brave soldiers who has sacrificed their life in the “Kargil War”. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26th July every year in honor of the Kargil War heroes. We started our work at sharp 9:00 AM with full enthusiasm. All of us were contributing in crafts and painting according to our capabilities. Our activity is not only about crafts and painting, it is also learning how to work in a team and complete your work within deadline.
“If we ate in peace, then thanks a soldier”.
We all were busy with our work and suddenly our Mahaguru Mr. Ramesh Ruia Sir came and asked us whether we know the whole story of Kargil War. He shared his experience of visiting Kargil and the real story of Kargil War. He told us the importance of this day. We all were touched by the story, that how our brave soldiers with their determined efforts recaptured all the Indian posts that had been occupied by the enemy. He told us about late Captain Vikram Batra who fought and was martyred on July 7 , 1999 in combat with enemy. No one can ever forget, ‘ye dil maange more.’ This is what late Captain Vikram Batra said to his commander at the base during the Kargil War. He appreciated our initiatives for doing activity on Kargil Vijay Diwas.
After these we all were back to our work and tried to finish 50 % of our work before lunch time. I was busy with the painting & others with crafts, captions etc. Then when clock struck 2:00 PM, we had lunch break. This is the best part of our activity because we do lunch together including Somnath Chakraborty Sir and Sayani Mukherjee Mam. After completing our lunch we were again back to our work, but this time with little pressure because time was passing and a lot of work was still pending.
We all were doing our respective works and some how manage to complete our work by 5:30 PM. Then we went down and installed our work. After installation a group picture was taken and like this we completed our activity on a good note.
If someone asks me what will I miss most about my GWDD course? I will definitely say monthly activity.
“I’ll either come back after raising the Tricolour or wrapped in it”.
